David over at (get this) Groundhog Day is right on.
“Changing the world” isn’t why we’re here.
and
We aren’t consumers. We are the consumed.
I said someplace on one of my blogs that I am interested in changing the world - it’s probably over on Asian Energy Advisors. That’s a choice I make to focus on certain things at certain times. Its significance precisely stems from the belief that it’s not the reason I’m here.
We are, indeed, the consumed. And yet I persist in certain objectives. It’s a bit Buddhist, I suppose [wanting to alleviate others' pain].
David says: “All we have, all we’ll ever have, in this brief life is each other.” And that, I believe, is precisely why the new technology platforms - like Twitter, blogs - are significant.
We can love each other. But we - practically arbitrarily - kill, torture, maim, hurt, insult and ignore each other. And on top of that, bad things happen. That is simply the reality.
Yeah, Web 2.0 is crap. Mostly. So what’s new?
Oh, do not ask, “What is it?”
Let us go and make our visit.
