I think this is a phenomenal picture on several levels. The colors. The culture that many would stamp out by any means necessary. The clash. The war/peace dichotomy/fiction/truth - I’m not sure how to express it all; it would take a poet. ![]()
And then there’s Bob - unique in his own right and doing something no one else is doing these days quite so consistently- traveling around Mindanao and publishing pictures of everyday sights; capturing our history.
I live in Malaybalay now - smack in the middle of Bukidnon but not a Muslim or mosque in sight. I can only surmise that there is some very interesting socio-political, probably ancient military, history associated with what seems to have historically been a very Christian/western/Tagalog historical outpost in the middle of the mountains of Mindanao. I dunno. Just surmising.
But I love this picture.
