Blogging from Malaybalay City, Philippines

Philcom.com February 17, 2007

I’ve had internet service from Philcom for over two weeks now in Malaybalay. And let me tell you, these guys are screwing over the provincial citizens of Bukidnon big time - at least from my limited experience. The local technical and business staff are great - it’s the execs and investors I hold responsible.

When they start delivering I’ll let you know.

Their website says great things about what they provide - don’t believe it for a second. They simply can’t deliver 512 kbps if you sign up for 512 kbps. Much more frequently than I would expect, I can’t even access the net at any speed.

Granted, I’m not paying very much; and I intend to upgrade. I’m currently using their entry level, cheapest service. We’ll see what they can deliver - at any price.

But I am so disappointed at the service that the run-of-the-mill Bukidnon citizen must get here. This just isn’t fair to those living in the province. If you’re not going to provide service, then don’t advertise that you do. I have options; I can get around this - even if I have to move. But most cannot do that.

When they fix this, I will sing their praises to the heavens, and let you know.
