Blogging at Blugre October 5, 2006
Our landlines are out for a day or so. So I’m working at Blugre Landco to get internet access. Yesterday they asked for P30 for one hour’s use of their power outlet for my laptop charger. Hmmmm … OK.
But why? My charger draws 45 watts - for one hour that’s less than .05 kilowatthours. Even at P10/kWh that’s only 1/2 peso. (did I do the math right?).
So I don’t understand. The only reason can be to discourage the use of chargers? But again, why? They clearly encourage the use of laptops (by providing free wi-fi). So I’m still stumped.
The only real impact the electricity fee has is to make me want to consider trying out some other place. I’m perfectly happy working at Blugre - good coffe and good pies. But if Formula Pete’s had been open before 10 am today, THAT’s where I would have been.
