Waikiki August 29, 2006
I’ve spent the past week with the family (Jenny, Jasper, and Maichail) in Honolulu getting our visas updated and in order. Also got Jenny’s reentry permit filed while here.
My mom, 82, flew in from Atlanta so we had kind of a mini-reunion. Honolulu turns out to be just about half way between Manila and Atlanta - about a 10 hour flight from each.
Staying at the Waikiki Parc Hotel. It has worked just fine. Our ocean front rooms are about $240 a night. Valet parking is $18 a day. Rooms are excellent. In room internet is $40 for the week. I plugged in my handy-dandy little Apple airport and had in-room wireless.
Their lobby area is under construction so there’s a make-shift front desk and no restaurants. But they do have a catered breakfast up on the rooftop, near their pool area. If you need it, they have internet access from two computers in the lobby at $3 per 15 minutes. I used them to print some material.
We’re a few steps across from the Halekulani Hotel and the Sheraton Waikiki. We’ll be back in Manila this Wednesday but not in time to catch last flight to Davao. So we’ll stay overnight at the Mabuhay Manor before catching our flight to Davao on Thursday.
